National Go Skateboarding Day

Onondaga Lake Skatepark and its nearly 10,000 registered users will be celebrating
National Go Skateboarding Day with the 3rd Annual Game of S.K.A.T.E.  The game of S.K.A.T.E. is a popular skateboarding game similar to the game of H.O.R.S.E. in basketball. The contest will take place in the Griffin Visitor Center parking lot.

In the game of S.K.A.T.E., skateboarders are paired with an opponent and attempt to
emulate skateboard tricks that are successfully completed by their opponent.  If a trick can
not be fully completed, that skateboarder receives an ‘S’.  The game continues until one
opponent spells out S.K.A.T.E. and is eliminated.

The tournament is open to the first 32 contestants.  Those interested can register at the
Griffin Visitor Center. All participants must have a signed waiver on file at Onondaga Lake Park, and wear full padding.  Prizes will be provided by Zumiez, and all contestants will be admitted free to the Onondaga Lake Skatepark when the contest is over.
