Beaver Lake is hosting its 3rd Mid-Winter Blues Run. The Nature Center has become a favorite location for outdoor enthusiasts to pursue fitness activities such as running. In an effort to encourage year round outdoor activity and help bridge the gap from fall to spring, Beaver Lake has organized this event. The run is 5K and it begins and ends at the Visitor Center, using nearby country roads. All proceeds benefit the Nature Center. The run is open to all ages and the entry price of $20 includes a long sleeved t-shirt for the first 100 entrants. Winners will be awarded in various age categories.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training

Onondaga County Parks is offering American Red Cross Lifeguard Training at the Jamesville-Dewitt Middle School pool on Randall Road in Jamesville.

All participants must be 15 years of age by April 8, 2008 and pass a pre-class test of swimming skills. Upon completion of the 11-week course participants will be certified in American Red Cross Training for pools, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and use of an Automatic External Defibrillator.

Class takes place Tuesdays from February 5 - April 8.
