The Friends of Beaver Lake are sponsoring an amateur photo contest to capture the beauty and diversity of Beaver Lake. Entries will be judged in the following age groups: 11 & under 12-17 years old 18 & over. Winning entries will be displayed at Beaver Lake from September 8-30.

Weekend Canoeing & Kayaking

$2 per vehicle park admission; Rental rates are $8 for the first hour and $2 for each additional hour

Enjoy a leisurely paddle on your own around Beaver Lake. Explore the lake's edge and search for beaver lodges, turtles, herons and osprey. Paddlers may bring their own canoe or rent one from the Visitor Center. ental is on a first-come basis.  Canoes will not be permitted to launch after 4 pm. All canoes must be off the lake by 5 pm You must register at the canoe dock. Canoeing is subject to safe conditions and we reserve the right to cancel. 

In addition to weekends, the canoe/kayak dock will be open Monday holidays.

2008 Toyota US Open of Watercross

The Toyota US Open of Watercross is expected to draw one of the largest gatherings of competitors in the country; participants are expected to travel from all over the country in pursuit of the champion title and cash purse of over $10,000. The Toyota US Open is probably personal watercraft racing's most prestigious event and winning here means earning a place in watercross history. The Toyota US Open of Watercross has been identified as a National Watercross Event by the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) and acknowledged by the American Power Boat Association (APBA). This nationally recognized event will be one of the highest paid events in the country.

In addition to the $10,000 in prize money being offered there will also be the standard 50% of the line contingency money. Competitors will be vying for the prestigious title of the Toyota US Open of Watercross Champion. Two classes, Pro-Am Ski GP and Pro-Am Runabout Open have been designated as premier classes. They will have the highest payout and will be the highlight of the event.

All activity will take place at the Willow Bay area of Onondaga Lake Park from 9am-5pm.

Whale Watch and Aquarium Visit

Join us for an exciting weekend of marine wildlife watching.  In addition to two whale watches, this trip includes a visit to the New England Aquarium on the Boston Waterfront.  Friday morning we will head right to the aquarium.  After touring the exhibits, it's off to the 19th Century marketplace, Quincy Market, for dinner.  Saturday's agenda includes a shore walk, a visit to the village of Provincetown, and a sunset whale watch.  To make sure we see all the humpbacks, minkes, and right whales around we'll go to sea again on Sunday morning.  The registration fee includes transportation, lodging, admissions, two breakfasts, and one lunch.
