NY BASS Nation - Take a Soldier Fishing
Saturday, April 28, 2018
The event provides a soldier assigned to the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum an opportunity to enjoy a day of free fishing on Oneida Lake. Over 100 boat captains volunteer to take out 170 soldiers on the water annually.
The soldiers will be paired two to a boat with the volunteer captains for a half day of fishing from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. when they will return to Oneida Shores for the official weigh-in. After the weigh-in, all participants will be treated to a free, BBQ-style luncheon, followed by awards and prizes for the biggest fish caught in several categories: bowfin, carp, catfish, drum and panfish (perch, bluegill and rock bass).
