Friday, January 15, 2021

The area just under the snow and just above the ground is called the subnivean zone. This layer of leaf litter and logs stays relatively warm due to the insulating properties of snow. Because of this the animals that live there are protected and sometimes even remain active. Let's explore this important microhabitat and find out more about its inhabitants.
