On April 24, 2021, William "Bill" Scott Jr.,passed away suddenly. At the time of passing, Bill was the President of theSyracuse Teachers Association (STA) representing approximately 3,000 SyracuseCity School District staff and 20,000 students. Prior to his presidency, Billspent 10 years as a school social worker and 5 years as the 4th Vice Presidentof STA. Throughout all the stages of his career, Bill worked tirelessly toadvocate for his colleagues, students, and their families and he was a fierceadvocate for all! Through this race, monies have been raised to be put towardsa scholarship for a Syracuse City School District senior who planned to majorin Social Work or the Human Service Profession.

We will continue honoring Bill's memory and legacy byhosting our 5th annual race on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 9:00am. The money raisedfrom this event will continue to go towards a scholarship for a senior pursinga degree in Psychology or Human Services. In addition to the Syracuse CitySchool District, this year’s scholarship will be open to seniors fromJamesville-Dewitt, Hannibal, and Whitesboro, all districts that playedimportant roles in the lives of Bill and his children.
